Chris Williams is a licensed optician and the founder and owner of Williams Eye Works in Staten Island, New York. He is a highly experienced professional with a career spanning over 30 years in the optical industry. Chris began his career in optics at just 14 years old, working at the Staten Island Mall in 1980. He was introduced to the trade by a master shopman named Mario, who mentored him in the craft of making glasses.
After formalizing his expertise and working full-time, he established Williams Eye Works in April 1995, driven by his desire to serve his home community in Staten Island. Under his leadership, Williams Eye Works has become known for its full range of products, expert knowledge, and exceptional customer service. The business offers a vast selection of over 10,000 frames, an on-premise lab for quick service, and in-house optometrists for comprehensive eye exams and contact lens fittings.
His commitment to excellence led Williams Eye Works to be designated an “Essilor Expert,” a title offered to a select few independent eye care professionals by one of the world’s most innovative optical companies.
Chris’ connection to Staten Island runs deep, and he built his business with the specific goal of giving back to the community where he grew up. The business is a true family affair, with all three of his children — Valerie (optometrist), Ryan (optician), and John (optician) — joining the practice and building upon his success. This family-oriented approach and deep community roots are central to the philosophy of Williams Eye Works: “When you see good, we look good.”
